Sal joined the team in early 2023, bringing more than 20 years’ experience across government, health, education and agribusiness. Raised on a sheep farm in marginal country in regional South Australia, Sal understands firsthand the financial uncertainty and seasonal pressures that shape farming life. Her career began in education and training before progressing into senior HR leadership and project roles, where she led complex workforce change initiatives, cultural transformation programs and strategic partnerships. At RBS, Sal has established and embedded the People & Culture function, strengthened compliance frameworks and introduced initiatives that support staff wellbeing and organisational capability during a period of significant growth and change.
Growing up in a farming family instilled in Sal a deep respect for the resilience and determination of rural communities. She knows the toll drought, market volatility and financial strain can take on families and businesses. Professionally, she has worked on programs supporting Aboriginal communities, housing initiatives and large-scale workforce reforms, experiences that required empathy, careful listening and practical problem-solving. This lived and professional background shapes how she supports the RBS team, ensuring staff are well equipped to provide grounded, compassionate support to farmers and small business owners across SA and the NT. Sal holds tertiary qualifications in business management and community services, along with extensive professional development in HR strategy, workforce planning and leadership.
Outside of work, Sal is a passionate music lover and regular at live gigs and festivals. She has been attending Womadelaide since 1993 – proof that her commitment extends well beyond the workplace.
