Brett joined RBS in June 2020 as our first Landowner Information Service Officer (LISO). Brett spent nearly 30 years working with farmers across South Australia and the Eyre Peninsula in grain marketing, fertiliser sales and farm insurance, with field-based roles servicing agricultural regions since the early 1990s. While continuing to be based in Port Lincoln, his client work now takes him to all parts of the state, including the Pastoral areas.
He has lived and breathed rural South Australia for much of his life, having grown up on a farm in the Mid North. Earlier on, he lived in both Adelaide and Melbourne for university and the early part of his working career. In the “noughties”, he shifted with his young family to Loxton in the SA Mallee, before becoming a “West Coaster” and coastal dweller at Port Lincoln in 2010.
As LISO, Brett’s engineering background and qualifications enable him to support both farmers and mineral explorers, quarry operators and miners to understand and negotiate each other’s needs in a balanced manner, drawing on decades of practical experience working directly in agricultural regions across the state.
Brett enjoys getting out on the water and taking full advantage of the pristine Eyre Peninsula coastline. He still manages to play competitive volleyball and, while only recently “retiring” from competitive sport, enjoys keeping active through walking, the occasional swim, and the odd hit of tennis or golf.
Now with nearly six years working with the Landowner Information Service, Brett continues to gain satisfaction from the appreciation shown by clients who value the independent (and free) advice he provides. He enjoys learning about his landowner clients’ businesses, properties, farming practices and local communities, while helping them more confidently navigate land access requests and better understand resource industry activities in their area.
