Lloyd Wright describes himself as a ‘white-collar worker with blue-collar insights’, drawing deeply on his extensive experience in farming and rural services. Born and raised in the Riverland, Lloyd’s regional roots stretch back to his grandparents’ settlement in Lyrup in 1894, giving him unique insights into the challenges faced by local farming communities.
Before joining Rural Business Support (RBS) as a Rural Financial Counsellor, Lloyd managed his own farm, producing mixed fruits and undertaking seasonal harvesting contracts. His career also includes roles with the Department of Social Security, contributing significantly to the Rural Adjustment Scheme, and Centrelink as a Rural Services Officer.
At RBS, Lloyd combines a proactive approach and compassionate nature to provide tailored financial counselling. He spearheaded successful business programs supporting Punjabi clients, addressing financial management, mental health awareness, training opportunities and viticultural practices. Lloyd was also among the first counsellors to regularly deliver services to clients in the Northern Territory.
Actively involved in community development, Lloyd serves as Secretary of the Renmark RSL, coordinated the Grant Telfer Statue Project (‘Turning a Legend into Bronze’), and previously chaired the Berri Barmera Local Action Planning Committee (now Landcare). Lloyd’s formal qualifications include a Postgraduate Certificate in Behavioural Economics (University of Technology Sydney), Advanced Diploma of Agribusiness Management, Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling) from TAFE SA, and specialised training in plant nutrition, hydraulics and structured management.
