David ‘Freddy’ Freeman joined RBS in 2024, with more than 45 years’ experience across farming, small business, pastoral work and regional operations, Freddy brings a deep, practical understanding of the issues facing rural, regional and remote communities.
Throughout his career, Freddy has operated his family’s mixed-farming business and held supervisory roles in the waste-management sector, giving him firsthand insight into the challenges small business owners face across different sectors. A lifetime spent in small communities means he understands how closely personal, family and financial pressures are often linked.
Freddy holds a Certificate IV in Frontline Management and is preparing to commence a Diploma of Financial Counselling, adding further depth to the practical, people-centred support he provides.
Now based in Whyalla with his wife and still closely connected to his family’s farm at Wilmington, Freddy is known for his calm, grounded approach and ability to relate to people from all walks of life. With two adult sons and long-standing ties to the region, his involvement in regional sport and volunteering, including coaching, local sporting committees, the CFS and small-town community groups, has built strong connections across the Upper North and beyond.
He brings empathy, respect and a non-judgemental ear to every conversation, influenced by his father’s reminders: “Respect people as you want them to respect you,” and “Don’t try to live in other people’s shoes, as you don’t know their story.”
