What is the RBS Relief Fund?
The RBS Relief Fund provides practical, short-term assistance to people in rural and regional communities who are experiencing hardship.
It’s designed to help ease immediate financial pressure during tough times, whether that’s due to drought, disaster, illness, or other unexpected challenges.
Who is the Relief Fund for?
The Relief Fund supports farmers, fishers, foresters, landholders and rural or regional small businesses across South Australia and the Northern Territory who are experiencing genuine financial stress.
Support is focused on those who rely on their business as a primary source of income.
If you’re unsure whether the fund applies to your situation, we encourage you to get in touch, and our team can talk it through with you.
What kind of support can the Relief Fund provide?
Support varies depending on circumstances, but may include help with essential living expenses, such as food, fuel or other basic needs.
The Relief Fund isn’t about fixing everything, it’s about providing some breathing space when it’s needed most.
Can the Relief Fund support more than just grants?
Yes. While small grants provide immediate relief, the Relief Fund can also support targeted programs during times of prolonged hardship or following a major event.
These programs are designed to ease pressure in the short term while helping people regain confidence, build stability, and take practical steps toward recovery and financial self-sufficiency.
They are developed in partnership with foundations and industry, and tailored to the needs of local communities—supporting recovery not just for individuals, but for the communities around them.
What if I’m hesitant to ask for support?
Many people feel unsure or uncomfortable asking for help, especially in rural and regional communities, and that’s completely understandable.
Reaching out doesn’t mean you have to commit to anything. It’s simply a conversation, a chance to talk things through and see what support, if any, might be helpful for you. You’re always in control of what happens next.
If you’re unsure, start with a conversation. You’re not alone.
Do I have to be in crisis to access the Relief Fund?
No. You don’t need to be at breaking point. Many people reach out when they can see pressure building and want to avoid things escalating further.
If things feel tight or overwhelming, it’s okay to ask.
Are there any application fees?
No. All support provided through the RBS Relief Fund is free. There are no hidden costs or fees.
Will accepting Relief Fund support affect other assistance or my relationship with my bank?
Relief Fund support is independent, confidential, and focused on immediate wellbeing. It doesn’t impact your relationship with your bank or lenders, and it doesn’t prevent you from accessing other support services.
Our team can also talk with you about additional support options if needed.
