Darren joined RBS in 2019 and brings more than three decades of combined experience across accounting, farming and rural business support. Having lived most of his life in the Mid North on his family’s third-generation farm at Spalding and working as a regional accountant in Clare for 28 years, he has a deep, practical understanding of the financial and personal pressures faced by farming families and small rural businesses. His grounding in both agriculture and finance shapes the calm, practical and holistic approach he brings to his work.
With more than 34 years’ experience working directly with farming and rural communities, Darren has firsthand insight into the challenges clients face. His strong financial background, alongside a completed Diploma of Financial Counselling, allows him to support clients in a way that enables him to provide advice that is clear, practical and easy for clients to apply. As he likes to say, helping people better understand their business and build long-term viability is crucial not only for families, but for the strength of the small communities around them.
Now based on the Yorke Peninsula, Darren enjoys being close to the beach while remaining strongly connected to the Mid North. He, his wife Claire and their four children have long been involved in local sport, particularly the NEFL and BSR Football Club and Spalding Sports Assoc, where Darren has held numerous volunteer and leadership roles and is a proud Life Member of each. When he’s not working or supporting local sport, he enjoys spending time outdoors and staying active.
