Paul joined the RBS team in September 2019 as the demand for rural financial counselling services in the Mid North and Upper North increased with the ongoing drought conditions and responsive government changes to Farm Household Allowance (FHA).

It was while jackarooing on a sheep station in the North West Pastoral region of South Australia that Paul “fell in love” with the outback and its people before undertaking tertiary studies in agriculture. Since then, he has accrued more than 33 years of experience working in remote and regional SA, WA, NSW and NT in a range of advisory, consulting and project management roles, primarily focusing on farm business management and natural resources management issues in pastoral and marginal mixed farming enterprises.

Paul has extensive experience in the development of business plans and solid skills in business financial analysis. His passion throughout his career has been working with pastoral and farming family businesses, to help them succeed over the long term, through good times and bad and his role as a Rural Financial Counsellor is an opportunity to continue doing this.

While Paul’s focus at RBS is naturally on the financial issues of his clients’ businesses, he strongly believes that all major elements of the farm business (i.e. its people, its natural resources and productive enterprises, as well as its finances) need to be taken into consideration.

Paul and his wife moved to Strathalbyn in early 2019, where they have built a new home and are busy establishing a garden on hard setting soils! He is a retired footy umpire and hockey player who now spends his winter helping out as a trainer with the Strathalbyn Football Club.
